Situation in Migori County Escalates After Protestors Lit Bonfires Along the Migori - Rongo Highway

Normal activities in Migori County were interrupted early on Thursday, July 4th, when protestors lit bonfires and barricaded with huge stones the Migori - Rongo highway.

Reportedly, the anti-government protestors came out in huge numbers to show their displeasure with the government.

According to The Standard Digital, a number of shops remained closed in Migori town as traders feared invasion of their shops by the protestors.

In Suna East constituency, limited movement of people and vehicles was witnessed.

However, in Suna West constituency, heavy demonstrations were witnessed, with police clashing with the protestors.

Compared to the earlier days, anti-government protests were less witnessed on Thursday as the situation remained relatively calm around the country.

Despite President William Ruto withdrawing the 2024 finance bill, a section of youths have vowed to continue with demonstrations until the government gives an ear to their demands.
