Man Utd have reportedly stepped up their plans to secure the signature of Matthijs de Ligt.

Manchester United have reportedly tabled a contract offer for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt as they look to improve their defence ahead of the new season.

United did not have a memorable season last time, struggled with multiple injuries to their defenders which led to a series of bad display throughout the campaign.

Aside from their shaky defence, United will be without French World Cup winner Raphael Varane, having allowed the former Madrid man to leave the club as a free agent, hence the need for reinforcements.

In that regards, the Red Devils have been on the hunt for a new centre-back and Ten Hag reportedly wants a reunion with yet another one of his former Ajax players in the form of De Ligt.

As revealed by Dutch publication De Telegraaf, Manchester United have tabled an opening contract proposal for De Ligt as they look to secure a summer move for the flying Dutchman.

The report has also claimed that De Ligt will be offered a five-year deal upon signing with the Red Devils with other details yet to be known.
