According to Vanguard, The Lagos State Police Command has commenced orderly room trials for four officers involved in a viral video showing them assaulting a suspect. The Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, ordered the trial following the incident.

The police had responded to a complaint about drug abuse on Makinde Odewale Street, Oregun, Ikeja, but met resistance from suspects who stabbed an inspector in the head with a broken bottle. The suspects also assaulted the traditional ruler of Alausa and the CDA Chairman.

While the police reinforcement team arrested some suspects with illicit drugs, some officers used unprofessional methods to apprehend the mastermind, which was captured on video. CP Fayoade condemned the actions of both the police officers and the youths who attacked them, promising to deal with anyone found culpable according to the law.

Twenty-seven civilians are undergoing screening, and those found innocent will be released. The command remains committed to maintaining law and order, preventing and detecting crime, and apprehending and prosecuting criminals.
