Today's Headlines: PDP Appoints Fintiri As Chairs Of Edo Guber Councils, Nick Imudia commits Suicide
The national working committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa, as the chairman of its campaign organisation for the Edo governorship election.
The PDP also appointed Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun, as chairman of its campaign organisation for the Ondo election.
The Edo and Ondo governorship elections will take place on September 21 and November 16 respectively.
The campaign councils were inaugurated on Thursday by Umar Damagum, acting national chairman of the PDP, at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
Nick Imudia, former chief executive officer (CEO) of Konga, an e-commerce company, has died.
Until his death, Imudia was the CEO of D.light, a leading innovator in residential solar energy solutions.
Imudia reportedly jumped from a storey building on June 25.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the Lagos police command, told TheCable that the state criminal investigation department (SCID) has commenced an investigation into Imudia’s death.
President Bola Tinubu has approved the National Construction and Household Support Programme during the National Economic Council meeting on Thursday in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the programme is aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, strengthening the economy, and providing immediate economic relief for Nigerian households.
Ngelale added that the programme, which was supported by the NEC, includes financial allocations and infrastructure projects across all geo-political zones in the country.
He added that a key component of the programme is the approval of the N50,000 uplift grant to be distributed to 100,000 families per state for three months.
