On 27th June, 2024 the member of the House of Representatives, Honorable Ikenga Ugochinyere during an interview with Symfoni while reacting to the ongoing Rivers State political crisis revealed that the Nigerian Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike once made them believe that his recent political rift with the Presidential Candidate from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was about the Southern parts of the country, but it was not about the Southern region, it was about his political ambition.
According to THISDAYLIVE, the member of the House of Representatives, Honorable Ikenga Ugochinyere said "You once made us believe that the struggle was about south… It wasn’t about the south, it was about you. So the south is you. Because, now yes, for whatever reason, Abubakar Atiku didn’t announce him as vice president. He announced Okowa. Is Okowa a lesser human to be a vice presidential candidate? For whatever reason, it was about the south-east and the south. Since you are willing to be a VP, but it was given to Okowa, your brother, you should support him. So, character, measuring character is also important. When people say he contributed so much, no. He didn’t contribute more than some of us. We all contributed. Everybody contributed."
Honorable Ikenga Ugochinyere cautioned the Nigerian Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike that even the President of Nigeria, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu with all his being a political maverick did not control Lagos State one hundred percent.
