According to The Sun, In an interview, Senator Gbenga Kaka, a former deputy governor of Ogun State, attributed the worsening food crisis in Nigeria to a combination of factors, including weather conditions, lack of incentives for farmers, and the role of middlemen. He emphasized the need for increased food production to achieve self-sufficiency, improve productivity, and balance the demand and supply equilibrium in the economy.

Kaka stressed that the government's efforts should focus on productive endeavors, such as channeling funds towards irrigational facilities, ensuring security for farmers, and encouraging people to return to farming. He also highlighted the need for a conducive business environment, a favorable exchange rate, and support for local industries to stem the tide of multinational companies leaving Nigeria.

The senator expressed concern about the economy's reliance on imports, citing examples of how multinationals operate in Nigeria, and emphasized the need for the government to make local industries competitive to achieve economic stability.
