Napoli have reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign 22-year-old defender Rafa Marin. The Italian club will pay an initial fee of €11 million, with an option to pay an additional €10 million during the 2024-2025 season to secure long-term ownership of the player.

If Napoli chooses not to exercise this option, Real Madrid will retain a buyback clause allowing them to re-sign Marin for €25 million in 2025 and 2026, increasing to €35 million in 2027. Conversely, if Napoli makes the additional payment, Madrid would need to compensate Napoli with €50 million to reclaim Marin in 2025 and 2026, or €60 million in 2027. Marin has agreed to a five-year contract with Napoli.

The completion of the transfer is contingent upon Marin passing a medical examination. Should all go as planned, Marin will join Napoli and play under new head coach Antonio Conte, who has already discussed the centre-back with Real Madrid's Carlo Ancelotti.

Marin began his career at Alcolea before moving on to Centro Historico and Sevilla at youth level. He joined Real Madrid's youth team in 2016 but has yet to make an appearance for the senior side. Last season, he was on loan at Alaves, where he made 35 appearances across all competitions.

This transfer marks a significant step for both Marin and Napoli as they look forward to strengthening their squad for the upcoming season.
