A somber mood has descended upon Ekpan, Delta State, following the tragic death of an unidentified lady who jumped from the Ekpan flyover to her death on Saturday afternoon, according to reports from Vanguard.
According to eyewitness accounts, the middle-aged lady, believed to be in her 30s, was heard screaming about her exhaustion with hardship before taking the fatal leap. While police confirmed the incident, the body was reportedly removed from the scene before their arrival.
"We heard of the incident but before our men got there, they took the corpse of the woman away," stated Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
In a separate incident, a kidnapping attempt on the Warri-Sapele road on Friday night led to the tragic death of one individual. Gunmen opened fire on vehicles around the Elume bridge area at approximately 8 pm.
One person, who sustained a gunshot injury, succumbed to their injuries while being transported to a hospital in Sapele.
While the number of victims kidnapped remains unconfirmed, reports suggest that some passengers were abducted and taken into the bush by the assailants.
