According to Punch Newspaper, The ongoing emirate tussle in Kano State remains a significant concern, involving the recently reinstated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and his successor, Aminu Ado Bayero. The conflict, which stems from the political maneuvers of former Kano State governor Abdullahi Ganduje, continues to raise questions about the stability and future of the Kano emirate. The dispute has become a prominent issue, drawing attention from various stakeholders, including the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, which seeks resolution and peace in the region.

Alhaji Yerima Shettima, Founder and President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, has weighed in on the matter, emphasizing the origins of the conflict. According to Shettima, the root of the issue lies in Ganduje's actions against former Emir Sanusi, whom Ganduje accused of wielding excessive influence. This led to Sanusi's removal and the appointment of Bayero as his successor. However, the recent reinstatement of Sanusi by Governor Abba Yusuf has reignited tensions, prompting concerns about the rationale behind these political decisions and their impact on the emirate's stability.

Shettima's perspective suggests that the initial trouble arose from the state's interference in the emirate's affairs, implying that the current administration might be following a similar path by questioning Bayero's position. The public perception, as highlighted by Shettima, is that Sanusi's ousting was politically motivated, primarily because of his increasing power and influence, which posed a threat to Ganduje. The current governor's motives for reinstating Sanusi remain unclear, leading to further speculation and uncertainty within the community.

To resolve this crisis, it is essential for the Kano State Government to adopt a transparent and fair approach, ensuring that decisions are made in the best interest of the emirate and its people. Engaging in open dialogue with key stakeholders, including traditional leaders, political figures, and community members, could pave the way for a lasting solution. Additionally, reinforcing the autonomy of the emirate and minimizing political interference might help restore trust and stability in Kano.

He said: There was no trouble when the Kano State Government suddenly created one. There was the idea that the former Kano State governor. (Abdullahi) Ganduje, found a fault in the former emir (Lamido Sanusi). So, what has this one (Bayero) done to Governor Abba Yusuf to warrant him being removed? It was in public knowledge that Sanusi was making himself more powerful than Ganduje.
