Alia: Is this because I served the previous government? Ex-governor advised me to let it go — David

The story goes like this: Former Benue State Finance Commissioner David Olofu and Governor Hyacinth Alia are reportedly at odds over whether or not Olofu's name should have been on the list of Benue citizens to be bestowed chieftaincy titles on Saturday by the Paramount Ruler of the Idoma tribe, HRM Och'Idoma Agabaidu Dr. Elaigwu Odogbo.

Olofu claims that the governor ordered his dismissal, but Governor Alia rejects the accusation, describing it as an effort at blackmail and based on nothing.

"I was told last night by the Och'Idoma himself," Olofu said. Regarding Governor Alia, I have no complaints. There has never been an argument between us. My professionalism is on full display in my role as Senior Technical Adviser at the Nigerian Governors Forum, where I collaborate with governors from the APC, Labour Party, APGA, and PDP.

"I was in PDP and never found wanting during my three and a half years as Chairman of the Forum of Commissioners for Finance," he continued. Is it because I worked for the last administration? After consulting with the former governor, I decided to just let it go. He has complete discretion as governor. Going to church on Sunday and giving thanks to God is something Christians are instructed to do no matter what.
