According to Punch, Benue State's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked Governor Hyacinth Alia to reconsider how he plans to deal with security issues. Bemgba Iortyom, the party's publicity secretary, issued the statement in which the opposition group expressed its condolences to the administration and people of Ukum Local administration Area for the recent fatalities.

The PDP denounced the protest's violent nature, which led to the loss of property and lives of innocent people. The party was also worried that security authorities were taking too long to respond and contain the crisis, which was leading to more building devastation. The group urged the governor to start a disarmament and resettlement programme for bandits in the Sankera area, enhance the logistical and communication skills of security services, and prioritise a swift reaction to insecurity.

To combat insecurity, the PDP also asked the governor to bring the people of Benue together, regardless of their political, religious, or social affiliations. The statement highlighted the importance of reevaluating security measures in the state in light of the growing violence and instability in different regions of Benue. The People's Democratic Party urged the governor to genuinely listen to the concerns of the people and take action to resolve the state's security issues.
