Pro-Fubara Lawmakers Confirm One Commissioner

The Rivers State House of Assembly confirmed Emmanuel Frank-Fubara as a commissioner nominee following the request by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The Assembly, led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, scrutinized and approved Frank-Fubara's credentials. During the screening, Frank-Fubara expressed readiness to serve in any capacity. The Deputy Speaker, Timothy Orubieninmigha, praised his character, and the nominee was confirmed by a unanimous voice vote.

APC UK Elects New Executives

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the United Kingdom (UK) has elected new executive members to lead the party for the next four years.

A statement by the Publicity Secretary, Tunde Ajisola, described the election as a reflection of the acceptance of the new leadership. He added that the executives would do everything to promote the party’s ideals, and also give the best of leadership that is required.

He added: “The newly-elected APC UK executives, under the Chairmanship of Tunde Doherty, would bring their wealth of experience and record of excellence to this role.

“Doherty has been an active and influential member of our community, known for his unwavering commitment to the principles and values of the APC. His leadership qualities, strategic vision, and ability to unite and inspire people have been evident throughout his career.

“As chairman, Doherty has also outlined a clear and ambitious vision for the APC-UK, and his priorities are to strengthen party unity, foster a spirit of inclusiveness and collaboration within the party, and also ensure that all members feel valued and heard.

FCT High Court Gets 12 New Judges

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, will swear-in 12 new judges of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday.

A statement by the Director of Press and Information at the Supreme Court, Dr. Festus Akande, said the event will hold by 10am at the main courtroom of the Supreme Court.

One of the 12, identified as Ariwoola Oluwakemi Victoria (Oyo State), is believed to be the CJN’s daughter-in-law.

Also among the 12 is Lesley Nkesi Belema Wike (Rivers State), but it was not confirmed if she is related to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Others to be sworn in are Buetnaan Mandy Bassi (Plateau), Ademuyiwa Olakunle Oyeyipo (Kwara), Bamodu Odunayo Olutomi (Lagos), Iheabunike Anumaenwe Godwin (Imo).

Odo Celestine Obinna (Enugu), Hauwa Lawal Gummi (Zamfara), Sarah Benjamin Inesu Avoh (Bayelsa), and Maryam Iye Yusuf (Kogi State).

Also to be sworn in are Ibrahim Tanko Munirat (Bauchi) and Abdulrahman Usman (Taraba).

EFCC Appeals Ruling Acquitting Fayose’s Ally, Others In ₦1.2bn Money Laundering Case

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has appealed the ruling of Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, which acquitted Abiodun Agbele, an associate of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and three others in a ₦1.2 billion money laundering case. The EFCC argued that there is overwhelming evidence showing the unlawful diversion of funds from the National Security Adviser’s account to support Fayose's governorship election. The commission listed 17 grounds for appeal and seeks to overturn the acquittal, asking the Court of Appeal to order the respondents to defend themselves on multiple counts.
