According to a report by Punch. In order to accomplish the goals of the National Defense Policy, the Senate has asked the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigerian Police Force, and other paramilitary organizations to make sure that they place a high value on inter-agency cooperation and coordination.

The Nigerian Army has been explicitly ordered by the upper chamber to visit the Eke community in the Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State on Tuesday to offer condolences to the relatives of those who were wrongfully killed, express sympathy to the injured, and provide some compensation.

The Senate adopted resolutions based on recommendations from its Ethics and Public Petitions committee, which looked into the unjustified deaths and attack on the Eke Neighbourhood Guards on June 29, 2023, by Nigerian Army personnel.

The Senate instructed the Nigerian Armed Forces to carry out non-core duties in support of civil authorities to ensure that they inform the civilian population about their rules of engagement, modes of operation, and the significance of information sharing. This recommendation was made in the report of the committee led by Senator Imasuen Neda (Labor Party Edo South).
