In the aftermath of a heavy rainstorm that wreaked havoc on several communities in Rivers State, the relatives of Governor Siminalayi Fubara have raised concerns over what they perceive as a lackluster response from the state government.

According to a report by The Sun News, the rainstorm caused significant damage to property valued at millions of naira, leaving many residents homeless in Andoni and Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Areas.

In a formal statement released by the Coordinator of Opobo United Progressives, Senibo Fenibo, and Secretary, Hanson Mac-Pepple, it was highlighted that numerous communities including Ngo, Oyorokoto, Ekede, Ikuru, Okoroboile, Chiekmoluk, Oboloiluk, Agbama, Otuokporo, Ebukumaija, and Okoloile were severely impacted by the disaster.

Expressing disappointment, the statement noted that Governor Fubara, a kinsman of the affected communities, had seemingly disregarded their plight and failed to address the dire situation.

"The people of Opobo kingdom are disappointed in Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who has left us to suffer and live destitute in the face of the serious havoc that the damaging rainstorm wrecked in our communities," lamented Fenibo.

Furthermore, the statement highlighted surprise and disappointment at the governor's lack of involvement and support during a time when his constituents were enduring hardship. The absence of Governor Fubara's presence or outreach following the catastrophic event was deeply concerning to the community members who had stood by him faithfully.

"We therefore feel disappointed that His Excellency the governor has abandoned his people and kinsmen," the statement concluded.
