We Paid Ransom In Millions, The Last Ransom We Paid The Kidnappers Was Close To N7M -Oyenuga Bankole

The Police Operatives in Ogun State have confirmed the arrest of two suspected kidnappers responsible for the Killing of a 71-year-old father of five in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State. A relative of the kidnapped Victim, Oyenuga Bankole has alleged that the elderly man never returned home after attended a crossover night on the eve of a new year.

He revealed how the family paid a substantial ransom totaling millions of naira to the kidnappers. He stated that the final ransom paid was nearly N7 million, with additional contributions bringing the total close to N10 million. He noted that despite their desperate efforts and substantial financial sacrifices, the kidnappers remained unyielding. He narrated how they explained the victim's fragile health to the kidnappers, explaining that he was a patient at UCH, suffering from diabetes and hypertension. 

He said in an interview with Channels TV, ''He got money before the new year in 2023. He went for the cross over night and we got the news that he did not come back home. We were contacted by the kidnappers and we have made a lot of sacrifice just to get him released. We paid ransom in millions, the last ransom we paid the kidnappers was close to N7M. 

And some members of the family even paid additional ransom. So everything was close to N10M, just for them to release him and let him come back home. And we told them that he was a patient in UCH, he is diabetic and hypertensive. I asked the consultant in UCH that what is our hope about your patient, the doctor cleverly said it's going to be difficult for him to recover. But the deed has been done, they have killed him despite all our efforts.''
