Ex-SGF Anyim Will Join APC- Ebonyi Chair

The All Progressives Congress (APC), has claimed that former Senate President and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim has joined the party.

The party said it has made frantic efforts to bring the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Leader into the APC and he has accepted to join the party.

It said this was why his pictures were used in the local government and councillorship elections APC rally held in Ivo, the former ex-SGF local government on Saturday.

Obi Decries Insecurity In Nigeria, Calls For Release Of Kanu

Presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi has lamented the level of insecurity in Nigeria, calling for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, other freedom fighters and any #EndSARS protesters still being detained.

Obi who spoke to journalists on Saturday morning in Onitsha, called on leaders to double their efforts in providing security for citizens, saying that if nothing was done, the country may become a failed nation.

He said: “The primary work of government is the security of lives and property. It is the foundation on which people can live in any nation because no one can stay in an insecure place.


Truck Kills Worshippers Returning From Friday's Juma'at Prayers In Kano

No fewer than 14 worshippers were killed on Friday in Lamwa town, Kura Local Government Area of Kano State, along the Zaria-Kano highway, when a moving truck lost control.

It was gathered that the incident occurred when a truck lost control and struck the worshippers as they were returning from the Juma’at mosque after Friday prayers.

Confirming the incident, the Kano Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ibrahim Abdullahi, through the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Labaran, in statement on Friday, said that several other persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries.


Police Order Clampdown On Vehicles Without Number Plates In FCT

Police authorities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have ordered a clampdown on vehicles without number plates. 

In a Saturday statement, the FCT Police Command spokesperson Josephine Adeh said the move is part of efforts to curb crime in the area.

“The FCT Police Command has observed with serious concern the manner in which motorists drive around the territory with single or no number plates and car dealers beyond the stipulated time, which is 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Section 25 (5) of the Federal Capital Territory Road Transport Regulation Act, 2005,” the statement read.
