Chief Chi Nwogu, the immediate past President General of Igbo Delegates Assembly in the 19 Northern states and Abuja, has encouraged Peter Obi to adopt a more visible presence in Northern Nigeria, similar to President Tinubu's strategy before the 2023 elections.
According to a report from the Sun, Nwogu emphasized the importance of Obi frequently visiting key cities such as Kano and Kaduna to garner widespread support.
Nwogu highlighted how President Tinubu's frequent visits to Kano prior to the 2023 presidential campaigns played a crucial role in securing substantial support in the region.
He advised Obi to follow this precedent, ensuring that he is seen often in these pivotal areas.
"I want to see Peter Obi in Kano and Kaduna and other places, to see him in Kano more often, like President Tinubu did before the 2023 elections. Let me tell you something. You see Tinubu was coming to Kano for every occasion, both personal and official before the presidential campaigns proper. And that assisted him to secure the kind of votes he got from the states," Nwogu stated.
Nwogu also advised Peter Obi's supporters to adopt an inclusive approach in their advocacy, presenting Obi as a leader for all Nigerians, irrespective of regional, tribal, or religious affiliations.
He stressed the importance of respecting other regions and avoiding unnecessary controversies.
"I will also urge his supporters to continue to win more friends and loyalists for their principal. They should not project him as their own alone but as belonging to all. This is the time to respect other regions, tribes, and religions in Nigeria. They should not allow themselves to be dragged into avoidable controversy with any group or interest; they should remain focused until the time is ripe," Nwogu added.
Chi Nwogu's call to action aims to bolster Peter Obi's political strategy and ensure a broader appeal across Nigeria in future electoral campaigns.
