President Bola Tinubu has approved the construction of the Sokoto-Badagry Highway. The highway will pass through the states of Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Kwara, Kebbi, Niger, and Sokoto.
The President made this announcement while authorizing the National Construction and Household Support Program to be implemented immediately across all of the nation's geopolitical zones, according to information obtained from the Vanguard newspaper.
This is a comprehensive list of other prioritized road infrastructure projects, including the Trans-Saharan Highway that connects Enugu, Abakaliki, Ogoja, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Abuja, and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway that is currently under construction.
The Port Harcourt-Maiduguri Railway, which will pass through Rivers, Abia, Enugu, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, and Borno, as well as the Ibadan-Abuja section of the Lagos-Kano Standard-Gauge Railway, which will pass through Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, Niger, Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano, have also received full counterpart financing from the President.
It should be noted that the Sokoto-Badagry Highway corridor contains over one million hectares of arable land, 216 agricultural communities, 58 large and medium dams spread across six states, seven Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones, 156 local government areas, and 39 commercial cities and towns.
