In a chilling incident highlighting the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, bandits clad in Hijabs stormed the peaceful Runka community in Safana Local Government Area, Katsina State, on Saturday night. The assailants, suspected to have local informants, unleashed terror by indiscriminately firing shots and systematically abducting residents.
According to a local source speaking to Channels Television, the attack commenced around 10:00 p.m., catching the community off guard. Shockingly, the bandits operated freely for hours before any security response was mobilized. During this time, they ransacked homes, forcibly took captives, and even engaged in phone conversations, brazenly taunting locals with their presence.
Tragically, one individual sustained gunshot wounds while attempting to flee the chaos but is now receiving medical care. Reports indicate that a total of 25 people were abducted, predominantly women and children, though some managed to escape or were subsequently rescued by security forces.
