According to a report from DAILY POST, a Federal High Court in Abuja has directed the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to provide the medical certificate of Mr. Tigran Gambaryan, the detained Binance Holdings Limited executive, by July 16.

This order comes after Gambaryan's lawyer, Mark Mordi, SAN, filed an application seeking the release of the medical report.

The court proceedings, presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite, took place on Friday, July 5, 2024.

Mordi had earlier prayed the court to summon Dr. Abraham Ehizojie, the medical doctor at the Kuje Correctional Centre's health facility, to explain why he had refused to make Gambaryan's medical report available, despite a previous court order.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) counsel, Ekele Iheanacho, attempted to allay Mordi's concerns, stating that the correctional center had qualified medical personnel and facilities to care for Gambaryan.

However, Justice Nwite remained firm in his decision, ordering the NCoS to release the medical certificate on or before the next adjourned date of July 16.

The judge further warned that if the medical report is not made available by the set date, the doctor in charge of the facility will be required to appear in court on July 16 to explain the delay.
