South African Singer, Tyla Outwits Ayra Starr, Asake To Win BET Awards

South African singer, Tyla has been named the Best New Artist at the BET Awards 2024, winning one of the most coveted awards in the music industry outwitting the likes of Asake, Ayra Starr and Burna Boy.

Tyla's acceptance speech was full of gratitude as she thanked her fans, family and the BET community. In her speech, Tyla said, “This is such a gift to be here. I want to dedicate this one to Africa. I want to dedicate this to all the African superstars before me that didn’t get these opportunities that I’m getting. This is just amazing. Africa to the world guys.”

She also thanked the African superstars who paved the way for her, stating that the win was a testament to the growing global appeal of African music.

Fans of the superstar were not left out in the joy of the moment as they took to their social media handle, X to share in her Joy.

The 22-year-old singer's debut single, "Water," became a huge hit and showcased her catchy hooks and dynamic performance style. Her self-titled debut album, released in March 2024, is a unique blend of Afrobeat, R&B, and pop that has captured the attention of music lovers around the world.

In the aftermath of the awards, Tyla performed her hit song "Jump" which features U.S. rapper Gunna and Jamaican dancehall star Skillibeng.
