Reps passed 89 bills, introduced 679 motions in one year, says Speaker.

According to a report by Punch. In the first session of the 10th House, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, praised his colleagues for rising to the challenge and passing 89 measures and discussing over 679 motions.

At the same time, he asked his colleagues to work diligently to address the issues of poverty, insecurity, and unemployment that Nigerians face.

In the absence of the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Kalu, led the House's plenary at the start of the second session on Tuesday.

He praised the federal lawmakers for passing several laws that have shaped the country's economic landscape, strengthened democratic institutions, and reformed important sectors.

He said, “The House introduced 1,351 bills, the highest number in any first session since 1999. Out of this impressive number, 89 bills were passed, reflecting the House’s commitment to legislative efficiency and effectiveness."
