In a recent interview with Punch News, esteemed elder statesman and National Leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, Chief Edwin Clark, disclosed former President Buhari's firm disapproval of restructuring Nigeria. According to Clark, Buhari refused to consider restructuring, even if it meant amending the constitution.

Chief Clark also brought attention to the unequal distribution of states among the six geopolitical zones, particularly affecting the Igbo people.

He pointed out that the North-West zone has seven states, while the South-East, predominantly inhabited by the Igbo, has only five states.

This revelation highlights the ongoing debates about Nigeria's political structure and the need for reforms to address regional inequalities.

Chief Clark's comments underscore the importance of addressing these disparities to ensure a more balanced and equitable society for all Nigerians.

In his own words, “However, former President Buhari did not agree. He (Buhari) stamped his feet and said no, he did not believe in restructuring and that he could do away with it, even in the constitution, and that was it. But we need to look at one of the areas, which concern the Igbo. We discovered that when this country was divided into six geopolitical zones, the North-West had seven states.
