Ackera Nugent was born on April 29, 2002, in Kingston, Jamaica. Growing up in a country renowned for its sprinting prowess, she quickly made her mark in track and field. Nugent attended Excelsior High School, where her talent for sprinting and hurdling shone through. During her high school years, she set the U18 world record in the 100-meter hurdles, with a personal best time of 13.15 seconds.
Collegiate Success
Nugent continued her athletic journey at the collegiate level in the United States. She initially competed for Baylor University before transferring to the University of Arkansas Razorbacks in 2023. Her dedication extended beyond the track; she holds a degree in advanced communication. At Arkansas, Nugent’s talents truly flourished. She set the fastest all-conditions collegiate time ever in the 100m hurdles at the 2023 NCAA Championships, helping the Razorbacks secure a team victory.
