Following today's riots, the Cabinet was briefed on the state of national security.
President William Samoei Ruto presided over a meeting at State House Nairobi where it was revealed that although the riots began as a demonstration against the tax measures outlined in the Finance Bill 2024, criminal and opportunistic political forces had infiltrated, hijacked, and taken control of them.

Kenyans have reacted to the meeting that took place at statehouse and here are the comments:
"Reconstitute this administration afresh... Then call for talks to review the burdensome Constitution structures to offload unnecessary levels of governance.... More resources should go to development and incentives to spur economic growth." Joel Ngugi said.
"I think some leaders are still pretending not to hear the cry of wanjiku - stop wastage of resources. Ati Nairobi county leadership is in diani eating life courtesy of wanjiku when we don't even have medicine in our hospitals and town is filthy dirty. Nairobi collects money in billions but there's nothing to show for it. We want parliament dissolved we go back and elect servant leaders." Nancy Mugure said.
"I thought Ruto will be one term president but this might be his last weekend in state house." Vicky said.
"21 cs in a struggling country with an economic inflations ruto must reduce his cs to 10." Alex said.
"President Ruto make your government intact remove all differences." Lazarus Ikau said.
"Its the president and his people who hijacked the protest we know that." Onderi said.
"What is the meaning of this statement.? I don't understand.someone should let me know what is says😀" Joseph Gathoni said.
"A hopeless govt that has no governing strategy embroiled in inefficiency, corruption, greediness and dishonesty." Kibugi said
"Mr.president use this opportunity as a Golden chance to put your government in order.we want value for our money.reduce wastage,and we are insisting on pay cut on all the three arms of government.Fire all underperforming officials.otherwise you are going nowhere till 2027." Amigo said.
