South-South leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of attempting to wield influence over both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State. Clark alleged that Wike, through his political maneuvers, has gained control over key positions in both parties within Rivers State, including appointing some APC members as caretaker committee members.
Clark raised concerns about Wike's actions, questioning whether Wike's ultimate goal is to undermine the PDP entirely and fully embrace membership in the APC. He cited reports of Wike allegedly sponsoring members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to defect from the PDP to the APC, potentially leading to a split within the PDP.
Additionally, Clark criticized Wike's and Atiku Abubakar's presidential ambitions, suggesting that their focus on party politics may be detrimental to the PDP's unity and stability. He speculated that these politicians are leveraging their financial resources not out of genuine party loyalty, but to consolidate their leadership positions within the party.
