Siaya County Governor James Orengo has sent his message of support to the Gen Zs on Saba Saba day, a day that is known for liberation in the history of Kenyan.

In a social media post, the Siaya county boss who took part actively in the liberation struggles now says that the Gen Zs and Kenyans have his support on this day that they have decided to march for their lives.

"As we mark this Saba Saba Day in 2024, I am happy because the young people of this country have decided to march for their lives. I support you!" He said

He said that he supports the young Kenyans who have decided to stand against dictatorship, tribalism in state appointments, police brutality and corruption. He urged the youths to be vigilant and steadfast, saying that freedom is on the way.

I support your clarion calls of saying NO to dictatorship, NO to tribalism in state appointments, NO to police brutality, NO to corruption. I urge you to remain vigilant and steadfast because freedom is coming." He said

The outspoken governor reminded Kenyans that it is the Saba Saba day of 1990 that Kenyans used to end the authoritarian Nyayo era that used to detain without trial, torture and kill Kenyans who had dissent political opinions.

"The first Saba Saba in 1990, marked the beginning of the end of the authoritarian Nyayo era. Prior to this historic day, political dissent was countered with detention without trial, torture and in many cases death. On this day, we marched to Kamkunji grounds for our lives because it mattered most."
