The former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, has clarified that in 1999, obtaining building permission in Lagos required travelling all the way to Abuja.

According to a recent story published by The Sun, Fashola said that the Lagos State government won the case in court, simplifying the process for Lagos residents to obtain building licenses. He also stated that he was in favour of President Tinubu's team. He declared that under Tinubu's direction, significant reforms like higher worker wages and salaries and the establishment of state police would come to pass. The establishment of state police in Nigeria could lead to increased security and law enforcement, as each state will have its own police force.

In Fashola's words: "As at 1999, if you wanted to build a house in Lagos, you would go and get permit in Abuja. It was Lagos State government that went to court to stop it"
