According to Vanguard, the national leadership of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) honored Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State as the "Most Pensioner-Friendly Governor"

Governor Abba Yusuf has announced plans to resume and complete the 5-kilometer rural road projects left abandoned across all 44 local government areas of Kano State. These projects, initially commissioned during the administration of former Governor Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had been neglected during the tenure of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

In a statement by the governor's spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, it was revealed that Governor Yusuf held a reconciliation meeting with contractors handling these capital projects. Following the meeting, agreements were reached to remobilize contractors back to their sites within the next week to expedite project completion.

The resolutions included addressing pending compensation issues through the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, facilitating access to advance payments for contractors, and adjusting construction costs due to recent material price increases.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration's commitment to continuing Dr. Kwankwaso's legacy of infrastructure development, ensuring strategic monthly payments to contractors to avoid project delays.
