Transfer Frenzy: ₦8.6 Billion Price Tag on Super Eagles Striker Sparks Global Interest

Rangers have set a transfer fee of ₦8.6 billion (£4.5 million) for Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers, drawing interest from teams in France, Spain, Greece, and Saudi Arabia, according to Soccernet.ng.

Rangers Review columnist Chris Jack reported that French and Spanish clubs have joined Greek side PAOK in pursuing Dessers. Saudi Arabian clubs are also monitoring his situation closely.

Dessers, 29, had a mixed debut season with Rangers, scoring 22 goals but also facing criticism for several performances.

Despite the criticism, his goal tally marked his signing as a success, especially compared to Sam Lammers, another player recruited during the same window who underperformed and was loaned out to the Eredivisie.

With the increased interest in Dessers, Rangers seem ready to sell him. Although retaining him as a second- or third-choice striker remains an option, the club prefers to cash in.

Dessers has played for eight clubs in 10 years, with stints in the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Scotland. His 16 goals in the Scottish Premiership last season were his highest at the top level.

Dessers' journeyman career shows no signs of slowing down, and with several clubs interested, he looks set to move again. The forthcoming transfer window will be crucial in determining his next destination, with Rangers prepared to decide on his future.

Meanwhile, football commentator Dan Bardell has urged Glasgow Rangers to avoid selling Dessers this summer.

Bardell suggested that Rangers would struggle without the Super Eagles striker, who could build on his first-season success next season.
