Mbeere North constituency member of parliament Geoffrey Ruku has come under sharp criticism following his comments during interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday morning.

According information posted by Azimio la Umoja blogger Pauline Njoroge, the member of parliament while speaking during an interview with Citizen on Tuesday morning argued that the lawmaker a personal car is a tool that can be used by individuals to generate income, therefore justifying an annual tax on personal cars that the government plans to introduce in the 2024/2025 Finance Bill.

Njoroge who has been keen on protecting the interests of residents of Mt Kenya claimed that thereafter the MP will go back to his constituents after passing the Finance Bill in parliament to claim that he never managed to read the bill.

She reminded her followers to remind the MP that people who could be swayed more easily, commonly known as "Tugege" are no longer in the mountain region.

"This Kenya Kwanza MP by the name unhonourable Geoffrey Ruku was on citizen TV this morning trying to explain how a personal car is a tool that generates income, therefore justifying an annual tax. You can be sure he will vote for the Finance Bill 2024, then later tell the electorate that he never managed to read the bill because it was as big as the Bible.

Mtu amwambie Tugege tuliisha Mt. Kenya." Pauline wrote on her Facebook account.
