The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has been under fire from PDP leader Chief Dan Ulasi for his apparent lack of party allegiance.
Ulasi said in an interview with AIT that Wike worked against the PDP during the 2023 presidential election and that the APC has made up for it by appointing him as a minister.
He said that after the state's crises, members of the Rivers House of Assembly had defected to the APC as a show of support for Wike. In light of this, he suggested that Wike could not say he was a party member.
He claimed that if he considers what his buddy Wike did around two or three months before the election, Wike extended an invitation to him to visit Port Harcourt.
He revealed that he stayed the night with Wike and that they spoke for hours on end. He described Wike as a really brave individual. He declared that he liked bold individuals who could make judgments if they were for the better.
Speaking further, he stated, "But as soon as he lost that nomination, you can see the steps he’s taking. I’m not being judgmental, but you can’t eat your cake and have it."
"In Rivers State, he put in a government, made sure our party lost Rivers to the APC, and they thanked him by making him a minister. He’s almost created a governorship in Abuja. And all his legislators in Rivers moved over to the APC."
"So what is he telling us? To believe that the legislators he put in Rivers who have joined the APC, and he is still working in an APC government. What is he still looking for in the PDP if not just to destroy the party?"
Dan Ulasi contended that this is the point at which he and Wike seriously disagree. He explained that the PDP would have viewed Wike as being honest if he had stayed outside of government and was battling for whatever differences he believed he had with the party.
He said, "But you cannot enjoy the privileges of APC; your members in Rivers have joined APC, and you want me to believe that you are enjoying PDP. It’s not proper.”
