According to Punch, In a daring rescue operation, five Benue girls who were trafficked to Cote D'Ivore for prostitution have been saved. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) confirmed the rescue, stating that the girls are now in the custody of the Nigerian Embassy in Cote D'Ivore.

The girls, aged between 18 and 21, were lured into the trafficking syndicate by a lady based in Jato Aka, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue state. The syndicate's nefarious activities were exposed after a viral video showed the girls appealing for help. NAPTIP promptly swung into action, working with the police to rescue the girls and apprehend the suspect.

The rescue operation is a significant milestone in the fight against human trafficking. NAPTIP has expressed concern over the viral video, which compromised the girls' identities. The agency is working to ensure the girls' safe return to Nigeria and reunification with their families. The suspect is currently in police custody, facing investigation and potential prosecution.
