Xavi Hernandez, a rival of Real Madrid's, stayed with FC Barcelona, which was lauded by Ancelotti during Thursday's pre-match press conference.
The original announcement of Xavi's resignation was for June 30. Xavi, however, decided to stay with Barça until his contract expires in 2025 after meeting with president Joan Laporta at his house on Wednesday evening.
In response to a question regarding this, Ancelotti stated that Xavi "has done a good job at Barça" when addressing the media ahead of Friday's league match with Real Sociedad. "He knows the club well and it's a good decision for him to stay," the manager said.
