Maina Kageni Sends Message To Gen Z

opera.com 3 days ago

Throughout their three weeks of protests, Kenya's Generation Z has received invaluable counsel from Popular Radio King Maina Kageni, who advises them to disperse from the demonstrations and reorganize online.

Maina emphasized the significance of reconsidering their tactics in light of the infiltration of violent groups during their nonviolent protests, as evidenced in his Instagram post from July 3, 202.

Maina also asked Gen Z to stick with their focus on non-violence, inclusivity, and open communication and underlined the need for a new strategy that shunned violent goons.

While Maina acknowledged that looting was not originally intended, she encouraged Generation Z to make the most of their influence by maintaining peace and participating in positive online dialogues.

Gen Z, you need to back down and reconsider your plan now that violent thugs, have entered your ranks. Return online and continue your conversation.

Looting, muggings, and property damage were never on your agenda. Your strength is in your capacity to be inclusive, nonviolent, and open to listening.

We will be at your side, but we ask that you maintain the peace. Maina suggested. Some activists express concern that violence may thwart their movement's attempts to demand President William Ruto be removed from office.

Many demonstrators demanded that the next scheduled protest, which was scheduled for this Thursday, be called off, claiming that the violence was the product of "goons" employed by politicians to either undermine lawful protestors or further their own objectives.

The state appears to have realized that the only way to defeat this movement is to send goons to pilfer, break into people's homes, foment violence, and defame our cause.

Activist Ojango Omondi declared, "It's time to go back to the drawing board and strategize on how best to overcome this violence and keep our protests focused on their true objectives."

The majority of the demonstrations against the Finance Bill 2024 were nonviolent, even though protesters had been attacked with water cannons and tear gas in the weeks prior.
