Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), recently addressed Batch B Stream I corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Ede, Osun State, as reported by DAILY POST. During his address, General Ahmed issued a stern directive prohibiting corps members from sharing activities of the orientation camp on social media. He emphasized that violating this rule could lead to severe consequences, including expulsion from the NYSC program.

General Ahmed stressed the importance of respecting the cultural values, norms, and opinions of the communities where corps members are deployed to serve. He highlighted that embracing local cultures and customs is crucial during their service year to foster harmony and understanding within the communities.

He discouraged corps members from requesting redeployment or relocation, urging them to adapt to their assigned communities and engage positively with local residents. He underscored the NYSC's commitment to ensuring the safety of corps members and warned against unnecessary travel, especially during nighttime. He emphasized the need for obtaining permission before traveling and adhering to camp officials' guidance at all times to maintain personal security.

Addressing personal safety concerns, General Ahmed urged corps members to prioritize their security and avoid risky situations. He reassured them that the NYSC would not deploy them to unsafe locations and encouraged them to heed advice from camp officials to mitigate potential dangers.

In addition to safety measures, General Ahmed emphasized the importance of hygiene to prevent health issues like cholera. He advised corps members to maintain cleanliness, including frequent handwashing, to safeguard their health throughout their orientation camp and service year.

Hear him: “It is an offence to carry activities of the camp and post on social media. The penalty is that such corps members will be decamped. Respect other people’s opinions and thoughts, cultures, values and norms of the communities where you are deployed to serve. Obtain permission before you travel and don’t travel by night. Once it is 6pm, break your joinery and continue the following day. Never joke with your personal security. Always abide by the advice of the camp officials. NYSC will never post you to unsafe places and don’t put yourselves in unnecessary danger. You must listen and guard yourself against danger because your parents have invested heavily in you. Stay safe and do everything to remain safe.”
