According to the report from the Vanguard, Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace, was honored with the “Outstanding Support/Service to the Nigerian Army” award during the 2024 Nigerian Army Day celebration.
The event took place on July 6, 2024, at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, Plateau State, and saw attendance from key figures including the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Abubakar; Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State; and Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State.
Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, commended Onyema for his continuous contributions to Nigeria's development through his airline and other enterprises.
Since its inception in 2014, Air Peace has supported military personnel by offering a special initiative where Nigerian Army officers could purchase flight tickets at a reduced fare of N10,000. This initiative underscored Onyema's commitment to honoring and supporting the nation’s military.
In 2022, Air Peace further solidified its support by introducing a priority boarding policy for military officers, recognizing their invaluable service to the country. "It is our way of saying thank you for all they are doing for the country," Onyema stated, emphasizing his dedication to motivating and supporting the military.
In September 2023, during the Nigerian Defence Academy's 33rd Convocation Ceremony in Kaduna, Onyema was conferred with a Doctor of Management Science Degree. During the ceremony, he pledged to extend flight ticket rebates to retired officers of the Nigerian military, further demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of military personnel.
