Rivers State has been embroiled in a crisis between Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the Governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara. Despite efforts by prominent figures to resolve the issues, the rift appears far from being resolved. One of the individuals who attempted to mediate in the clash, President Bola Tinubu, faced criticism from former governorship candidate Tonye Princewill. According to Princewill, Tinubu's intervention failed because it was not constitutional and was perceived as one-sided.

Speaking to The Nation in an interview, Princewill highlighted that the President's approach lacked popular support and consultation with relevant stakeholders. He emphasized the importance of considering the people's voice in Rivers State and urged Wike to allow Fubara to govern without interference.

Princewill stressed the need for unity and support for the current leadership, emphasizing that the state had experienced enough crises in the past. He cautioned against destabilizing the governance of Rivers State, emphasizing the need to uphold the rule of law and allow the current administration to complete its term.

In conclusion, Princewill urged all parties involved to prioritize the interests of the state and work towards resolving the crisis in a peaceful and lawful manner. He emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in ensuring the stability and development of Rivers State, the treasure base of the nation.
