On 1st May, 2024 the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede in a statement released by by the EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale while commending the personnel of the commission across the country emphasized that the good citizens of Nigeria were great people, but corruption was what is painting them black, and he urged the good citizens of the country to fight corruption with all their strength for the progress and development of the country.
According to Daily Trust, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede said "I have said it times without number that there is nothing wrong with us as a nation. Nigerians are great people. Corruption is what is painting us black and we should all fight it with all our strength. We all know that fighting corruption takes all of the time, talent and value systems of every focused fighter. The least we can do is to appreciate them once in a while for their labour of love."
Ola Olukoyede commended the men and women of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for their doggedness, diligence and sacrifices in tackling the issue of corruption and other financial crimes in the country. He also added that the EFCC personally were nation builders and the good citizens of Nigeria needed to appreciate them for all the excellent work they have been achieving towards their effort to tackle the issue of financial crimes in the country.
