A coalition of North Central stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) descended upon the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, mounting pressure for the resignation of the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. The group, under the banner of Concerned North Central APC Stakeholders, voiced their demands following Ganduje’s recent suspension by a faction of his ward executives and the bribery allegations leveled against him by the Kano State government.

According to a report by Daily Post, the protesters articulated their grievances, calling attention to what they perceive as Ganduje’s untenable position within the party hierarchy. Amidst chants of solidarity and the conspicuous display of banners bearing messages such as "Ganduje must resign" and "Return the APC chairmanship to North Central," the demonstrators urged President Bola Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, to deliberate on reinstating the leadership of the party to the North Central region.

The protesters’ actions come in contrast to the recent show of support for Ganduje by the Forum of APC State Chairmen, who expressed unwavering solidarity with the embattled national chairman. Nonetheless, the dissenting voices from the North Central region, represented by the Concerned North Central APC Stakeholders, highlight a deepening rift within the party's ranks.

Mohammed Mahmud Saba, the spokesperson for the demonstrators, underscored the sentiment of betrayal felt by North Central constituents following the perceived usurpation of the APC national chairmanship. Saba emphasized that despite the region's significant contribution to the party's electoral success, their rightful claim to leadership has been marginalized. He stated, “We, the North Central APC Concerned Stakeholders, have resolved to unanimously agitate for our right and reclaim our mandate which was handed unto us by the National Convention of our great Party in 2022.”
