In an exclusive interview on Arise Television, Realwan Okpanachi, Legal Adviser to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), expressed his disappointment over the premature celebrations in Kogi State regarding the anticipated victory of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, even before the tribunal's judgment was officially announced.

Okpanachi remarked, "We were not surprised by the outcome of the Kogi State election judgment because, as you know, it was widely discussed on social media two or three days ago. The events that unfolded today were exactly as reported."

A screenshot from a video clip released by Arise Television on their X handle featured Realwan Okpanachi making these comments. He further elaborated, "We attended the tribunal today to receive the judgment formally. We were well aware of the social media rumors and the celebrations happening in Kogi State days before the judgment. It was essential for us, as legal professionals, to be present and fulfill our responsibilities towards our clients by formally receiving the judgment."

Okpanachi emphasized that, unlike politicians, lawyers must adhere to their duties and ensure they gather accurate, formal information. "The informal information circulating was not sufficient; we needed to be there to confirm the validity of what we had been hearing. It was unfortunate to witness people celebrating three days before the judgment, jubilating across the state," he stated.

The interview highlighted the legal team's commitment to due process and the troubling nature of the premature celebrations. Okpanachi's remarks underscore the importance of awaiting official rulings rather than relying on speculation and rumors, which can lead to misguided celebrations and misinformation.
