Ebonyi State have just concluded a 3.5 kilometer runway on its Chuba Okadigbo International Airport in Onueke, Ezza South local government area of the state; Which is part of efforts to kick off commercial operations in the Airport.
During the inspection of the completed runway on Saturday July 7th; The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology; Mrs. Obichukwuto Ngozi said that state government plan to float it's own Airline. To that effect, the commissioner asserted that the State Government had finalized plans purchase four aircrafts to facilitate the smooth start of operations in the airport. The Commissioner also revealed that some notable Investors have indicated interest to bring in additional three Aircrafts to Operate in Airport.
In her words, the Commissioner asserted; "Permit me to announce to you that the governor, Francis Nwifuru, is very passionate about bringing in our own planes. And we are launching four at a time and when it comes, everybody will hear it. The governor wants to make this airport the economic hub of the Southeast region”.
The Commissioner further stated that the State government plans to also establish an Aeronautic University within the airport environment. This is believed to help build an ecosystem around the Ebonyi State Aviation Sector.
