Former presidential aide Reno Omokri criticized former Anambra state governor Peter Obi, stating that, unlike the chairman of Eti-Osa local government area in Lagos state, Obi did not construct a single school during his two-term tenure as governor of Anambra.

Responding to Omokri's claim, Peter Obi addressed journalists in Nigeria's capital city, Abuja, on Wednesday, April 24.

Ridwan Adeola Yusuf, a Legit.ng journalist with over 9 years of experience covering politics in Nigeria, reported on the matter.

In Abuja, Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, expressed his views on the matter.

He likened building new schools when existing ones are dilapidated to constructing coastal lines when internal roads are impassable.

Obi's statement was in direct response to Reno Omokri's challenge, who had offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who could provide evidence of a school built by the LP leader.

According to The Nation, speaking to reporters in Abuja on Wednesday, April 24, Obi defended his record, emphasizing that he focused on providing his constituents with essential amenities during his tenure.

He stated: "I improved the quality, physical and mental well-being of the people. Schools had the basic things they needed, and the people shone like stars. That was my manifesto."

Despite Omokri's challenge and the offer of an N11 million reward, no response came from Obi's camp.

Omokri had urged anyone to present evidence of a nursery or primary school initiated and completed by Obi during his governorship, but as of more than 48 hours later, no one had come forward with such evidence.
