According to DAILY POST reports, Okoi Obono-Obla, a notable figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former presidential aide, has issued a stark warning to Governor Sim Fubara.

The caution comes amidst growing tensions within the state's political landscape, particularly regarding the actions of Tony Okocha, the acting chairman of the APC in Rivers State.

Obono-Obla's statement, released from Calabar, underscores his belief that Tony Okocha lacks the authority to instruct the 27 APC lawmakers in the state House of Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara.

According to him, the power to impeach a governor rests solely with the members of the state legislature, making Okocha's directives unwarranted interference.

However, while dismissing Okocha's influence, Obono-Obla urged Governor Fubara to exercise vigilance.

He highlighted the governor's vulnerability in the face of potential legislative maneuvers, emphasizing the importance of adopting a reconciliatory approach over political theatrics.

One of the key points of contention highlighted by Obono-Obla is the recent election of a new Speaker of the State Assembly by five PDP lawmakers loyal to Governor Fubara.

He deemed this move unconstitutional, citing the requirement of a quorum, which, according to him, necessitates the presence of at least 10 members out of the total 31 in the House of Assembly.
