By reiterating his non-professional status as a politician and asserting that he is carrying out a divine mission, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, the founder of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and a life member of the Board of Trustees, is quoted in a piece that was published in the Sun.

He challenges the listener to think about the history of the party and the efforts that have been made since 2001 to build the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP). He does this by posing a rhetorical question to the audience.

In light of the fact that a great number of other political parties have been deregistered, he makes the point that Kwankwaso might not have been able to run for public office if it weren't for the efforts of the party.

He said, "I’m not a professional politician. I’m a messenger of God. Have you thought about it? This party was packaged in 2001 and pushed to this level. If we didn’t win elections, could he (Kwankwaso) have even had the opportunity to come and contest an election? If we didn’t win elections, we would have been deregistered. Remember that there was a time when political parties were about 84 in this country. Now they have been pruned down to 18 and we survived. Where was Kwankwaso? Was he with us? Kwankwaso had a political party that he facilitated. That is where the NNPP headquarters is. It was deregistered. So, what is the pride about?"
