Esther Yakubu, the mother of one of the abducted Chibok girls, recounted her experiences a decade after her daughter and others were taken by Boko Haram. Speaking on AIT, she shared her deep sadness over her daughter's abduction and her unrealized hopes for her future. She had dreamed of providing her daughter with educational opportunities beyond her own achievements. However, those plans were shattered when her daughter was kidnapped, leaving her without any communication or knowledge of her daughter's whereabouts for the past ten years.

Addressing the topic, Esther said that, "I am not happy at all because I had bigger plans for her. I have had plans for my daughter since giving birth to her. I planned to educate her to a level that I have not reached. Unfortunately, she was kidnapped, and 10 years later, I have not heard from her, nor have I heard anything directly from anyone who dealt with her."

Speaking further she said that, "I have no idea about the five children. My coping in Chibok has not been easy because life here is quite expensive and hard. Currently, my husband is suffering from diabetes and diarrhea. We have been battling the ailment for nearly two weeks, and we do not have money as her siblings are still in school. Here in Chibok, we do not have a good medical facility, and we have to go to Mubi for medical attention."
