Two members of robbery gang land in police net after snatching phone from female NYSC member

Two members of a robbery gang have been arrested by men of the Adamawa State Police Command after the gang, operating inside a tricycle, snatched a phone from a female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the command announced on Friday night.

The state police command announced the development on its X handle, saying the two teenagers, Aminu Aliyu and Salisu Muhammed, both 18 years old, who were also members of notorious group known as Shilla Boys, were arrested while two other members of the gang escaped.

It was gathered that the corps member, whose name was given as Paulina Ayuba, reported to the police that while walking beside the road in Mubi North Local Government Area of the state in the evening, four guys approached her and forcefully snatched her phone.

Following the complaint lodged by her, police operatives were said to have launched a manhunt for them and after some days, the two teenagers were arrested while two others escaped on sighting the operatives.

The command wrote: "The stolen phone and one tricycle used in committing the crime were recovered as investigation continues so as to trace and arrest the fleeing suspects."

They are also expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation into their nefarious activities.
