In a joint world press conference held in Abuja, National Coordinator of the Coalition of Civil Society for Good Governance (CCSGG), Okpanachi Jacob, and Coordinator of the Kogi Conscience Liberation Movement (KCLM), Peter Onuma, emphasized the urgency for the Presidency to ensure the expeditious prosecution of former Governor Yahaya Bello over alleged fraud amounting to N80 billion. The delay in Bello's prosecution, as highlighted by Jacob, raises concerns among Nigerians regarding the government's commitment to combating corruption. Onuma stressed the importance of transparency and adherence to the rule of law in addressing corruption cases affecting public trust. He urged for collaboration between the EFCC and other security agencies to effectively tackle corruption challenges.

Jacob stated, "We urge all relevant government agencies to expedite action in the war against corruption, as Nigerians and Kogi State citizens are growing restless over the delayed prosecution of former Governor Yahaya Bello for alleged N80 billion fraud." He further added, "Corruption threatens our statehood, impedes socio-economic and political progress, and reduces confidence in our system. We must act now to show that we are serious about fighting corruption."

Onuma emphasized the significance of addressing corruption cases promptly, asserting, "Someone who has been called to appear in court on two to three different occasions should receive appropriate professional treatment." He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide necessary support for transparent legal processes.

The joint appeal by civil society leaders underscores the imperative for accountability, justice, and adherence to legal procedures in combatting corruption and restoring public confidence in governance. The call for swift action against corruption remains pivotal for upholding the rule of law and strengthening anti-corruption efforts in Nigeria.
