According to PUNCH reports, the Kano State Government has ordered the immediate release of funds to contractors to complete the abandoned five-kilometer road projects across the 44 local government areas in the state.

The directive was issued by Governor Abba Yusuf shortly after a meeting with the contractors handling the projects at the Government House.

"The governor ordered the resolution of pending compensation issues and that the contractors go back to the sites within one week," a government spokesperson reported.

The road projects were initially launched during the tenure of former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, but were subsequently abandoned due to unexplained reasons.

As part of the revival plan, Governor Yusuf has ordered the immediate release of a 30% upfront payment to the contractors.

Additionally, the government has committed to reviewing the costs of the projects to account for the escalation in construction material prices, as well as providing strategic monthly payments to the contractors to prevent further stagnation.
