According to the report from the Vanguard, In response to Governor Obaseki's statements, the Legacy Media Team, articulated in a statement by Yakubu Osakhuenokhuodin, indicated that the veracity of Obaseki's claims would only be proven with time. They emphasized that this juncture is not ideal for the party as they approach an election.

Furthermore, this stance was supported by former State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Nosa Adams, who expressed concerns that the PDP candidate might face repercussions due to Obaseki's perceived mishandling of the party's affairs.

Osakhuenokhuodin asserted, "We challenge Governor Obaseki to provide concrete evidence regarding the funds allegedly received by Legacy leaders, including the identities of these leaders, the amount given, and the locations where transactions took place. We implore the governor, who currently lacks decorum in his remarks, to accord respect to his office and desist from baseless accusations."

He continued, "The intricate dynamics involving Obaseki, Legacy PDP, and the people of Edo cannot be overlooked. Effective governance should not be measured by the conflicts one has. Obaseki faced conflict within the APC, leading to his expulsion from the party."

Transitioning to the PDP, Osakhuenokhuodin highlighted the significant efforts made by the party in supporting Obaseki's re-election bid despite initial challenges. However, following his victory, Obaseki distanced himself from the party and those who had supported him, disregarding crucial lessons from past electoral setbacks.

Osakhuenokhuodin recounted, "The PDP, under the leadership of Dan Osi Orbih and other members, including candidates who sacrificed their own aspirations, campaigned vigorously across Edo State to bolster Obaseki's electoral prospects. Orbih's unwavering commitment throughout the campaign process was evident."

He further added, "Despite Obaseki's underwhelming performance in his first term, party members worked tirelessly to enhance his image. However, post-election, Obaseki marginalized the Legacy Group within the party, casting aside efforts to reconcile and unify the party structure."

The statement concluded by highlighting Obaseki's choice of Osarodion Ogie, the current Secretary to the State Government, as his deputy, a decision perceived as a missed opportunity to engage the Legacy Group within the party.
